How To Create A Zip File/Folder In Windows and Mac

Being able to create zip files is a great thing to be able to do. Zip files are great for every day use. They can help save space on you’re computer as they are compressed unlike normal files.

They are also very useful for when sending emails, as normal files cannot be attached to an email. A folder must be a zip folder in order for it to be attached to an email.

Ok so in order to create a zip folder, you must have a normal folder already created, that you will convert into a zip file.

Let’s start with Windows. Once you have created the folder, all you then need to do is right click on it, hover over Send to and then select Compressed (zipped) folder.

That’s pretty much it. The zip folder will be created in the same directory as the original folder. That’s how you can easily create zip folders on Windows.


Moving onto Mac. Pretty much the same idea. With the folder or files you would like to convert, highlight them, right click and select Compress “”. In between the quotes will either be the name of the folder the number of files you have selected. The zip file will be created in the same place as the original. Done.
